Citation-grounded AI
Citation-grounded AI is artificial intelligence whose statements each carry a reference to the exact source passage they came from. The answer is built only from retrieved, approved sources, and each sentence and number points back to where it originated, so any claim can be checked at its origin.
Why the distinction matters
Grounding is a constraint, not a decoration. Anything the system cannot tie back to an approved source, it does not say. When it cannot ground a claim in the approved sources, it says so instead of guessing. The result is an output where verification means opening the citation, not reconstructing the work.
